This charming restaurant delivers an exceptional dining experience that honors classic flavors while inviting diners to explore a richly diverse menu filled with fresh, vibrant ingredients and expertly crafted dishes.
From the moment you walk through the door, the warm and inviting atmosphere of Paul's Homewood Café embraces you, setting the perfect stage for a memorable meal. Whether you're settling in for a relaxed weekday lunch or celebrating a special occasion, the attentive service paired with the aromatic allure of Mediterranean spices creates an irresistible ambiance.
The menu at Paul's is a true tribute to Mediterranean culinary heritage. Start your meal with mezze—the delightful small plates—like the flawlessly baked Spanakopita, a flaky filo pastry stuffed with spinach, feta, and ricotta that melts blissfully on your palate. The Dolmathes, tender grape leaves wrapped around seasoned beef and rice, are equally delectable and a true signature favorite. For seafood enthusiasts, the PEI Mussels sautéed with garlic, shallots, and white wine offer a succulent, savory bite, while the Oysters Rockefeller, topped with sautéed spinach, shallots, and applewood bacon, provide an indulgent, smoky edge.
Main courses showcase an impressive range, from the tender Chicken Souvlaki kebabs to the elegantly roasted Mediterranean Sea Bass, which is light, flaky, and infused with aromatic herbs and olive oil. The New Zealand Lamb Chops, seared to perfection, appeal to those craving something rich and flavorful, while the Seafood Platter—brimming with Maryland crab cakes, stuffed shrimp, and blackened scallops—celebrates the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay with every mouthwatering bite.
If you're in search of hearty and comforting Mediterranean fare, the Lamb Shank arrives tender and succulent, slowly cooked to release layers of deeply savory flavors. The Pastitsio, a Greek-style lasagna, layers béchamel and seasoned meat for a creamy, satisfying finish. And for those who want to indulge a little more, the Chicken Marsala, simmered in a rich wine sauce with mushrooms and garlic, is a captivating comfort food.
Desserts at Paul's Homewood Café are nothing short of divine. The Galaktoboureko, a traditional Greek custard pie wrapped in crisp filo, delights with its perfect balance of texture and sweetness, while the Coconut Custard Pie offers a unique tropical twist. Paired with a strong coffee or a refreshing glass of iced tea, the meal rounds out beautifully.
What truly distinguishes Paul's is the genuine care evident in every detail. As many loyal patrons attest, including Ed Mattingly who lauded the staff’s attentive accommodation for dietary needs and the outstanding lamb shanks, or Nevik who praised the heavenly tzatziki and tender chicken souvlaki topped with a birthday surprise, the café consistently delivers personalized, warm service alongside culinary excellence. J Alexandra, a frequent visitor, captures the spirit best: the restaurant's longstanding reputation for quality and welcoming setting make it a cherished Annapolis gem that locals and visitors return to time and again.
Whether you're craving the fresh vibrancy of a Greek Salad with perfectly balanced vinaigrette, the hearty satisfaction of a Filet Mignon with baked potato, or the savory elegance of seafood fresh from the sea, Paul’s Homewood Café invites you to savor every bite in a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere that feels like home. Excellent service, salad, and oysters between peak lunch and dinner hours. My potatoes still had foil stuck to them from heating. My photo is from trying to salvage some in a takeout container.
Slightly outside of the downtown area but completely worth the walk from our hotel. Service and food was outstanding. They carefully accommodated celiac Annie and even brought out the soy sauce to show us that the scallops appetizer would be safe for her consumption. She had the filet mignon and I had the lamb shanks. We sampled several drinks and even had dessert. Awesome experience and they didn't balk to seat our 3yo son. The appetizers were the highlight of our meal.
All around outstanding weekday lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed the tzatziki, the fresh Greek Salad w/ a delightful vinaigrette, the mussels with a white sauce that you could drink, and the tender chicken souvlaki kebab, topped off with a special birthday treat. A wonderful experience. We will recommend as well as return.
Paul's is a renowned family restaurant in Annapolis, cherished for its longstanding reputation. We visit several times a year and recently celebrated my dad's birthday there. The food was exceptional, with everyone thoroughly enjoying their dishes and delightful desserts to cap off the meal. I highly recommend Paul's to anyone who appreciates Greek/Mediterranean cuisine, as well as a diverse selection of fish and meat dishes throughout the year.
Went to lunch with my good friend Alan. He's a local icon. We had a great lunch. We were served by Michelle, She was fabulous! Alan got the Calamari and I got the Flat Iron Steak Sandwich with French Fries. Both our meals were delicious and we were treated like royalty. What a great lunch. Thanks to Pauls for doing it right! Paul's is a hidden gem. You won't be disappointed.
The black sea bass, prepared with a lemon butter sauce, was exceptionally well-received. The freshness of the ingredients and the quality of the presentation were noteworthy. Furthermore, the service provided by the server was both kind and attentive. The establishment offers a compelling value proposition with its Wednesday half-price wine promotion. I recommend this venue!
